Newborn Photography

The best time to do a newborn session is in the first 10 days of your baby being born.   I know it’s hard to want to do anything other than just survive that first week, but I promise, you will not regret it! Contact me a few months before you are due to save your due date into my calendar.  

• If you are a scheduled C-section or induction, we can just go ahead and schedule the session. 
• If baby is in charge of when he/she makes her arrival, then I save a couple session options the week of your due date.  You then let me know as soon as your babe is born, and we can get the session scheduled ! Easy as that! 
  

My newborn sessions (either in-home or studio, see more on the differences below)  include:

• an array of poses of just baby (including detail shots of feet/hands/eyelashes etc) 
• baby with any siblings 
• baby with both parents together 
• the whole family, if applicable
• baby with each parent separately.

Why do Newborn Photographer prices vary so much? 

It seems like some people charge something called a low studio or sitting fee, does that mean they are cheaper overall? 

What you will find is that there are two primary reasons pricing differs in Billings MT newborn Photography: 

1. Session Quality - some photographers have more experience, training, or just fit your style better. Like with everything, prices vary according to what you would like to pay for an investment, so look for a photographer that fits your budget, but also quality expectations.
2. Full Digital Image Rights - this is a big one, many photographers charge what seems to be a low initial "sitting" fee because they do not give you full digital image rights. This is a common photography practice, but is why it is good to ensure you are aware of the full costs of a possible session before signing. With eMarie, you receive all image rights so you can print off as many images as you want when you are done. This is why the actual cost may be higher than other photographers in town, it is because this is the final cost as well as the sitting fee. That being said, you can also contract with eMarie to have images printed through our selected providers if you do not want to print your own for an additional fee, but this is just for printing costs (the same as if you would go somewhere else by yourself).

Additional Session Details: 

• For all sessions I require a 25% deposit to hold your session time.  The remaining 75% is due at the time of the session.  I also include a contract for signature at this time.
• Cash, check to eMarie Photography, or credit card are acceptable forms of payment.  If you know you would like to pay with a credit card, I am happy to send you an invoice before the session, so that it can be paid prior to the session. 
• All sessions come with permission for me to use your images in my marketing. If you have questions or concerns about this, please contact me before signing the contract so we can discuss.
• I usually do a sneak peek on social media within 48 hours of the session, and final galleries are delivered within 4 weeks of the session.

IN-HOME NEWBORN SESSION

In-Home Session Investment: $1200

‍Reasons to choose an In-Home Session:

• There is a more personal element and feel to this session. 
• It is in your home, where baby is most comfortable. 
• It has all the special touches (such as the nursery) and no one else’s images will look like yours.  

How to Prepare for an In-Home Session: 

• I could not care less what your house looks like.  If it’s pristine, I will capture that.  If it’s real life and there are empty cereal bowls in the sink, and dirty socks near the door, I will capture that.  Ok, maybe not a closeup of the dirty socks, per se.  But I just want to capture your family as you are! Don’t panic if it’s not perfect- that’s real life.  
• Make sure you have a place in your home with good natural light.  I  bring my travel bean bag and wraps and take beautiful closeups of your babe. I prefer to use natural light for these detail shots.  I can bring specific props if you let me know you want to use a specific theme or color scheme.
• If you have special props you want to incorporate or a theme you have used for your babe, let me know in the newborn questionnaire.  That way I can be prepared and bring everything necessary right to your home.   Set out anything personal or special you would like me to use, so I can easily transition from one pose to the next and not forget anything important as we move through the session.  
• Turn up the heat in your home to at least 73* to start out- this helps keep baby nice and cozy and less likely to get startled or disturbed in transition periods.

Lifestyle In-Home (+ Video)

Lifestyle Session Investment: $3000

• In-home sessions can include the addition of several lifestyle images AND a short family video from White Coyote Creative. 
• The session usually takes 3+ hours, depending on the mood and cooperation of the baby. 
• The idea of this session type is to visit you in your own home and context and capture you and your family with your newborn in a variety of settings and poses more in line with your normal lifestyle, along with the traditional newborn poses. This can include images of things like you breastfeeding baby, baby in the nursery room, baby in bassinet in your Master Suite, etc.
• The final gallery usually contains 40-50 of the best edited images from the session, as well as a 2-3 minute beautiful custom-made professional video of your family by White Coyote Creative.
