Thinking about booking a Family Session? Just do it- trust me. You will never ever regret capturing these memories now. What you will regret is if you will always “do it next year” and then all of a sudden 8 years have flown by and your kids are teenagers.
It is so important to capture those memories as you all are, right now. Not when you lose those last 10 pounds. Not when your two year old is just a tiny bit older so it’s just a little bit easier. Not when you have more time to pick out the perfect outfits (I can help with this part, BTW)- RIGHT NOW! Let’s chat to get your family session scheduled.
You’ve booked a family session- now what? Believe me, I know how stressful it can be to find outfits for everyone- but don’t panic! I’m here to help!
First of all, make sure your outfits show your family’s personality. Don’t worry about getting super dressed up if that’s just not your vibe! Wear what you want- after all, these are YOUR images that YOU will be hanging on YOUR wall. They don’t need to look like everyone else’s.
That being said, if you do want help with picking outfits that coordinate and work well together, I’m totally here for that. A styling consultation either via FaceTime or just texting/emailing me all the outfits laid out together is included in my packages. I am more than happy to give my opinion and help you finalize your style choices. I also have some amazing choices in my client closet. If you are struggling to find that perfect outfit for a member of your family, let me know and I can let you browse through my client closet to see if I have anything that would work with your color scheme.
Speaking of color scheme, I suggest you COORDINATE your outfits, not MATCH your outfits. Pick a color scheme that you like (at least 3-4 colors that compliment each other, usually 1-2 of those is a great neutral) and have them all coordinate with each other. They don’t all need to match exactly, you want each member of the family to stand out in an individual way! If everyone is wearing khakis and white shirts, you all blend together, and there’s not a lot of variety.
(*Pro tip from a mom of 6: Start with mom’s outfit and add on from there. I have found if I go backwards and find my own outfit last, I have so much more difficulty! Honestly, it works so much better! Baltic Born is a great website I have found for beautiful dresses, both regular and maternity.
My biggest suggestion for if you want to end up with unique images that stand out: be BOLD! Try the hat. Wear hot pink. Buy the jumpsuit you’ve been eyeing forever. Don’t be scared of pattern. Again, I would love to help you be confident in your choices, but this is your chance to make the most of your session!
